This is a steering damper of my old 1200 Sport twin sparks.
To
adapt it to the Heritage i used the headlight bolt connected to a steel
bracket specially folded which supports the head of the damper.
For
its back part, where you set the hardness of the device, i used its
original support which seems to be tailor-made even for Softail
models... i mean, with a bit of a damn lucky, this bracket allows the
passage of the oil-clutch tube perfectly, you just need a further bolt
to keep it in transverse position on the bar that supports the frame's
downtubes.
The
damper doesn't touch any part of the fork or the frame, the handlebar
keeps all its amplitude of rotation and the work looks clean.
In conclusion, the steering damper it's almost totally useless... but gives a more racing look to the bobber.
